這首歌
是Jason 寫給他罹癌的朋友 Charlie的
兩人是從中學時代就認識的好友
然而後來Jason到LA追尋音樂夢想
而Charlie則留在VA完成學業 後來成了一名DJ
但是在2001年 Jason終於跟唱片公司簽約了不久
卻接到從家鄉來的噩耗 Charlie告訴Jason他得了一種罕見但卻死亡率極高的癌症
但是Charlie一直以積極正面的態度面對他的病
(與其怨天尤人的抱怨"為什麼是我" 還不如笑笑接受)
這就是當時Charlie的態度
也使得Jason比較能夠釋懷 進而引發了"The Remedy"的創作靈感
後來Charlie 開始進行化療時
當時Jason 在Charlie的病床邊
彈著吉他 輕唱著未完成的"The Remedy"雛形給Charlie聽
本來他並沒有打算把這首歌收錄在專輯裡
但是Charlie 鼓勵他把歌寫完
Jason苦思了很久 卻一直想不出副歌 後來轉而向The Matrix求助
The Matrix說希望能有段慷慨激昂的副歌
所以後面才有''I Won't Worry My Life Away''這一段
這也是Charlie一直抱持的人生態度
p.s. Charlie是在國慶日生的
而有一次Jason開車到San Diego時看到Disneyland正在放煙火
就想起了以前Charlie常開玩笑說
全國人民都在幫他慶祝生日
因此有所感慨

原來是the remedy,前天才在ICRT聽到,就覺得很輕快好聽欸 背景故事太感人了,難怪我們最善良的大衛會這麼愛 我也要放入我的手機了

雖然不是當事人 我卻一直很喜歡這種有故事背景或單純講述故事的歌 一開始或許不懂得其中的涵義 但經過多次的接觸後總是會慢慢了解意境 有時還會莫名的想哭呢…(當然是比較悲的歌才會 像Avril的Nobody's Home及Carrie的Just A Dream) 我想這就是歌手成功的地方 不僅傳達出故事的內容也傳達出情感給聆聽者 一首好的歌就應該有好的旋律及有水準的歌詞 不太接觸華語歌就是因為太多太濫情或太低俗的歌詞 而且一堆沒實力的歌手都唱現成的 缺乏個人情感ㄚ…
我不喜歡華語歌是因為旋律大多大同小異，音樂走法都相當老套，聽了一句大概下面會怎麼唱就知道了 我到青海去反而喜歡聽邊疆歌曲，他們的歌曲有些真的有大漠的氣質在裡面，例如這首就是我的最愛之一：月光落地的聲音（名字就棒極了吧！），不過youtube上沒有
這首歌,是Jason早期的歌裡面我最愛的,也是後勁蠻強的一首歌,這首歌裡面我最喜歡這一句, Dance with me, because if you've got the poison, I've got the remedy 不過The remedy這首歌的現場版本我最愛的是AOL的,建議版主聽聽看,AOL的The remedy是我看現場裡面最有I won't worry my life感覺的版本,老實說Jason的現場一定要有他的鼓手先生在場才叫精采,且Jason現場每一場每一時期都不一樣,早期的The remedy我還有聽過有加入低音大提琴的....那場現場我不是很喜歡= =" Jason Mraz - The Remedy (AOL Sessions) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U46esrNX73I

我喜歡Gengen貼的版本原因是,可以看到他的好朋友Charlie專注聽著Jason為他作的歌,流露著感動及驕傲的表情,讓這首歌感覺更令人動心。而且還有事後一起訪問兩人的影片。
