With his debut self-titled album in hand, post-Idol Archuleta completes his early 2009 tour in the United States today and will head over to Britain, supporting British band McFly on its upcoming “Up close ... and this time it’s personal” tour from April 21 through to May 10.

And in between? Well, you’ve probably already heard – if you’re a huge fan, that is – that the boy from Murray, Utah, is headed this way.

Yep, he’s making Kuala Lumpur one of the stops for his Asian promo tour, and is confirmed to hit our shores from April 8 to 12 for a series of promotional activities, including a live performance.

Organised by Sony Music together with DiGi as a main partner, the “David Archuleta Live in KL” showcase will take place at the Sunway Lagoon Amphitheatre on April 11 starting at 3pm, during which he will perform tracks from his album including the hit singles Crush and A Little Not Too Over You.

While the 19-year-old’s album received mixed reviews, it went straight to the No.2 spot on Billboard’s album charts. Billboard praised the singer for having a “once-in-a-decade pop voice: A silky tenor with a natural melancholy”. And whether or not you like his album, seeing Archuleta perform live should be a treat.

So, this is the part you’ve all probably been waiting to hear: To attend the showcase, you need a ticket, which you can obtain with every purchase of Archuleta’s album from April 2 onwards at the following retail outlets: Rock Corner, Artist Gallery and Victoria Music Centre (while stocks last). DiGi users will get a 20% discount on the purchase of the album at the above outlets. Also, with every purchase of the album, fans will receive a limited edition 16-page lyrics booklet for free. Look out also for a chance to win tickets from official media partners of the showcase, including Hitz.FM, Era FM, My FM and 8TV.

In conjunction with Archuleta’s promo tour in Asia, Sony Music, in collaboration with PacMee (a mobile social networking service, an alternate Twitter but catered specifically to Malaysians), has also created a “David channel” for die-hard fans to get regular updates on Archuleta prior to and during his promo visit in Malaysia. Fans will be able to share the star’s journey by following his day-to-day activities during his promo tour here, as well as view photos, messages and videos of Archuleta. To activate PacMee on your mobile phones, SMS to 36400 (for DiGi users).

All that not juicy enough for you?

OK, how about this then? DiGi is offering a rare opportunity for one lucky DiGi customer to be part of Archuleta’s entourage! For real.

Nikki Lee, Head of DiGi’s Youth Segment, said: “We are always on the lookout for music experiences that are unique yet appealing to our customers. Being on Archuleta’s entourage is a dream-come-true experience for his fans. Now, our customers will have the privilege to enjoy this rare opportunity.”

DiGi’s first 750 customers who download any of the three special promotional bundles from DiGi Music will receive two exclusive passes each to Archuleta’s showcase.

DiGi customers who have purchased any of the promotional bundles are also eligible to participate in the SMS trivia contest about Archuleta. The one who answers the most number of questions correctly will win entourage duties and privileges on the day of his performance. (Each SMS costs 50 sen; the contest ends April 3.) The next 20 customers with the highest number of correct answers will receive exclusive merchandise and an invitation to an autograph session with the singer.

Comprising full tracks, true tones and wallpapers, each promotional bundle is priced at RM10 (normal price RM23), and is available via web (digi.com.my/music) or WAP (wapmusic.digi.com.my). Customers can also SMS to 2000 to download the promotional bundle.

In one Los Angeles Times report last year, it was observed that girls in the Idol audience were “still shaking, sobbing and screeching” over their encounter with Archuleta an hour after the show had ended.

So get yourself a ticket somehow, and then be prepared for the sobbing, screaming and shaking that follows an Archuleta experience.
