說實話，版主是在聽大衛唱When You Believe之後，才完全折服於這個小孩的唱功的。從他預賽開始，版主首先被他吸引是覺得他的key很準（這個就很不容易了，我的耳朵多麼挑剔，我是聽歌劇練出來的耳朵的），然後覺得他的聲音特別有感情，不過直到這首歌我才真正100%佩服他，為甚麼呢？因為這首歌本來是版主的招牌歌，除了原唱那兩個歌唱天后之外，能比我唱的好的也不多了（我自己說的）。可是聽了大衛的版本之後，版主甘拜下風。

Mariah Carey對大衛最大的貢獻就是她跟大衛說：如果你用假音把高音拉上去我也不會怪你。這對大衛的影響非常大，大衛的聲音老師說他以前不論怎麼勸，大衛就是不肯唱假音（像touch my hand的高音不是假音，那叫做頭音），結果Mariah一說，大衛馬上就願意試了，大家聽聽他的那個假音2：17－2：20是不是非常自然？下載在這裡： whenyoubelieve
