簡直就像大衛的自傳,把大衛從小到現在的資料收集的非常仔細,巨細靡遺,大家可以讀來做參考。內容再一次確定大衛一定會出拉丁專輯,這真是太令人興奮了。

By Michelle (Age 17, USA)

Eighteen year-old David Archuleta has already accomplished more than most teens his age. His singing talents have been recognized worldwide and millions of viewers made him their “American Idol” in 2008. But this is only the beginning of a very successful career for the talented singer.

David James Archulta was born on December 28, 1990 in Miami, Florida, USA to Jeff Archuleta and Lupe Marie Archuleta. His father was a jazz musician who played the trumpet and his mother was a singer who performed locally with her three sisters. “My mom…sings and dances salsa, meringue and stuff like that,” he says, “and my Dad is a jazz trumpet player, so they both craft music in different ways. I think they kind of help inspire me.”

At age six, David became inspired to sing after watching a Les Misérables video. He became fascinated with the music, playing the tape over and over and memorizing each song. “That musical is what started all of this", he said. David began to practice singing and he started performing publicly at age ten when he participated in the Utah Talent Competition singing "I Will Always Love You" by Dolly Parton. His hard work paid off and he won the children’s division.
Around this time, David began to watch a TV show called “American
Idol”. Contestant Tamyra Gray and her outstanding performance of the
song “And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going” mesmerized him. “[It was] the
biggest thing for me,” David recalls. “That was like the biggest change
in making me want to do music, making me want to perform, making me
want to do the same thing I saw those people performing on the show. I
was so amazed at the way that they sang and the emotion that they had
in their songs. I was like ‘I want to do that!’ I liked singing before
then, but that was like the big

thing that made me say, ‘I want to, I have to do music.’” After David
started watching "American Idol," his father bought recording equipment
and recorded David singing. When a family friend saw that "The Jenny
Jones Show" was looking for "Future Latino Stars," she urged David’s
parents to have their son try out. In 2002, an eleven year old David
made his television debut on the show, singing "And I Am Telling You
I'm Not Going" on Jones' show. After the show, David’s father decided
to surprise David and took him to the Season 1 finale of “American
Idol”. At the finale, David met up with finalist AJ Gil, who David had
previously met during “The Jenny Jones Show”. AJ insisted that David
sing "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going" for Tamyra Gray. David
consented and sang for her, with Kelly Clarkson and Justin Guarini also
watching.

In 2003, twelve year old David became the Junior Vocal Champion on Season 2 of the TV show “Star Search”. A year later, he was invited back to compete against other winners. David had come down with appendicitis and bronchitis a few moths before but competed anyways. Several weeks into his second "Star Search" experience, David and his family realized something was wrong with David's voice. He was diagnosed with vocal paralysis and was given the option of surgery or vocal therapy. David didn’t want to have surgery so he went through with vocal therapy. After a couple of years, David was able to regain his ability to sing again. David continued to watch "American Idol" and thought about auditioning, but didn't believe he was good enough and also was too young. But finally in the summer of 2007, sixteen-year-old David, with the urging of his friends and family, auditioned for Season 7 of “American Idol”.

David and his father went to San Diego to audition. He performed John Mayer's song "Waiting on the World to Change" and it was so good that judge Randy Jackson began to sing along with David. David had won his ticket to Hollywood. During his second round of auditions, David sang with other people in his row. The producers dismissed his entire row and a heartbroken David walked away. "Then I heard someone say, 'Wait, come back!'” David recalls. “I didn't think they were talking to me, so I kept going. And they said it again, 'Wait! Come back here!' I turned around and they said, 'You're through.' It was such a shock!" David had secured his spot on “American Idol”.

David competed and received enough votes each round to advance, singing songs such as “Another Day in Paradise” by Phil Collins, “Love Me Tender” by Elvis Presley, and “With You” by Chris Brown. He made it all the way to the finale and sang three final songs. Now it was up to America. Would they make David their American Idol? Judge Simon Cowell predicted that David would win and even David’s competitior David Cook thought David would win. "I have to concede it, the kid came out all three songs and nailed it," said David Cook. But when the results were announced, David Archuleta finished runner-up with only 44 percent of over 97 million votes. But David didn’t lose hope.
On the set of the 'Crush' music video
After “American Idol”, David toured on the American Idols LIVE! Tour and then signed with Jive Records. “Crush”, the first single off his self-titled debut album, was released on August 1, 2008 and debuted at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The album was released on November 11, 2008 and debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200 chart. “The Biggest change [after “American Idol” is] everyone now recognizing who you are, getting to travel a lot more,” says David. “You know getting into your core and getting to tour, I mean it’s all a pretty drastic change you know! You’re not really home anymore because you’re all over the place, but it’s really fun; I really love it.”
Since then, David has been occupied with many award shows, tours, and other miscellaneous things. In 2008, he placed second on Forbes’ list of "Breakout Stars of 2008” with David Cook, presented an award at the Teen Choice Awards, and received the Teen Choice Award surfboard for "Most Fanatic Fans". In 2009, he toured the UK with the band McFly, toured with Demi Lovato, won 3 Teen Choice Awards for “Choice Breakout Artist”, “Choice Love Song”, and “Choice Music Tour (with Demi Lovato)”, and won the “Year in Music - Rising Male Star” award at the ALMA Awards. He also tried his hand at acting, making an appearance as himself on Nickelodeon's show “iCarly” and on the Disney Channel show “Hannah Montana” as himself.

Recently, David released his second album, “Chirstmas from the Heart”. “[The songs] are mainly the traditional Christmas songs, there’s an original on there too,” David says. “But it’s mainly just the traditional heartfelt kind of Christmas songs that everyone kind of grew up listening to and the songs that mean a lot to me, along with some other ones that I wasn’t familiar with but really loved and thought were really cool sounding.”

Fans are also a big part of David’s life and are the ones who made him an “American Idol”. “I try my best to make sure that they know how much I appreciate them,” he says. “You know I wouldn’t be in this if they didn’t enjoy it. I try to make sure I get to know them; I try to get familiar with my fans. I try to make good music for them; I try to perform my best for them. Getting to see other people and the way they love what you’re doing is so cool.”
American Idols LIVE! Tour |
What can we expect from David in the future? “I will be going on tour actually,” says David. “I’ll be going on tour during the winter time, and I’ll just be singing some of the familiar songs along with Christmas songs, so that should be fun. I’m just excited to do Christmas songs and perform again; it’s been a nice little break. I’m going to be working on the next pop album now. I’m not sure exactly when, but it’ll be coming out sometime next year. I’ll be going to Nashville, New York and LA to do some writing. So it’ll be nice to get back into gear. After working on that stuff, I’ll be going and working on the Christmas tour and that should be fun, I’m really excited to do another solo tour.
“I am definitely planning on doing a Spanish CD,” he continues. “I think that would be so great to do and it would be so important to get back and reach out to that side of my heritage. Half of my family is Latino…I want to give back to them too. Family is so important…they’re the ones who carry you, they’re the ones who support you, they love you, they raised you and I feel like that’s kind of the center of everything. I love how it seems like with all Latin cultures that they really focus on family and the strengths in the family because sometimes that’s all you have. It makes you appreciate what they do and they appreciate each other so much more. They’ve taught me a lot and they’ve been my strength. I wouldn’t be able to do all of this if I didn’t have them.”
